Referencing is the acknowledgement of sources used in academic work. It gives credit to original authors, enables readers to trace sources, and helps prevent plagiarism. UNESWA Library provides guidance on major referencing styles and supports users in the use of reference management tools.
Reference management tools help users collect, organise, store and cite sources more efficiently. They also make it easier to insert citations into Microsoft Word and automatically generate bibliographies and reference lists. The University of Eswatini Library recommends Zotero reference management tool
Zotero is free and open source. It enables users to save references directly from web browsers, organise them into collections, attach PDFs, and generate citations and bibliographies in multiple referencing styles. Zotero seamlessly intergrates with Microsoft Word, enabling users to seamlessly cite while writing and automatically creating a reference list.
Should you encounter any challenges with Zotero, please contact svtsabedze@uneswa.ac.sz.
UNESWA Library assists students and staff with identifying relevant academic sources for assignments and research projects. Support includes search strategies, keywords, boolean operators and refining results.
The Library provides support for effective research data planning, organisation, preservation and sharing throughout the research lifecycle.
Students and staff can use DMPTool using their UNESWA email. Users can select a funder, add contributors, and download their completed Data Management Plan.
For storage, preservation and sharing of research data, users can deposit datasets in the UNESWA Research Data Hub (Zenodo). Zenodo supports embargoed files and assigns a DOI to datasets. The Library also assists with metadata, versioning and dataset review before deposit.
